Doug Strawn

Doug Strawn is a veteran musician, performer, educator and public speaker. He has been in the music industry all of his life and has shared his knowledge of performance, music preparation and presentation with students of all ages.

Doug was one of the original members of the Carpenters and performed all over the world with Karen and Richard Carpenter. He played woodwinds, keyboards, sang and conducted the orchestra for all their live performances. He can also be heard on many of the Carpenters records and CDs .

Following his career with the Carpenters Doug was recruited by the Disney Company to become Director of Entertainment for Walt Disney World, a position he held for almost 20 years. As you might expect, this kind of position gave Doug a lot of exciting and unusual opportunities to develop one of a kind shows for Disney. He was part of the design/development team for the Disney Cruise Line, worked on the entertainment concepts for Disneyland Paris, Tokyo Disney Sea, and was the Executive Producer for the Super Bowl XXIX Halftime Show.

The single most important thing to Doug is teaching students that are sincerely interested in learning about music and performance. It doesn't matter what age a student is, the key for me is their passion for music and their willingness to learn.

The combination of his professional performance background and his experience as an executive for the Disney Company enables him to bring a wealth of knowledge about the entertainment industry to your learning experience. Doug will focus each lesson on developing your voice, enhancing your range, and introducing you to the proper vocal techniques that will increase your stamina and breath control.
